Creating a VizArtist Scene Using Counter Broadcast Data Source

First, you need to:

  • B) Install our Viz Social Plugin as described in this article.
  • C) Download this sample scene and use it as a base for your project:

(Download) flowics_counter.via

  • D) Go to Feed Streamer and add a new source as follows:

The scene looks like this:

And its tree like this:

The key for a scene to work properly is having the correct groups' hierarchy and plug-ins' settings.

Understanding the Scene's Tree

In our case, we need to make sure that all the data is connected to the Widget in order to display real time information.

We will walk through all the scene's containers briefly explaining their operation and taking a more detailed look at those who have a specific plugin showing their configuration.

1 - group

The "father" of the scene; it has no plugins:

2 - object

Just a container, it has 1 plugin:

  • key Container Plugin

3 - array

In charge of connecting the scene with the Widget; it has 2 plugins (both require a specific configuration):

  • STV_MessagesReader Container Plugin

In the field "Source Name", you should enter the same name that you defined on point D)

  • DataArray Container Plugin

4 - index0

Just a container; it has NO plugins.

5 - hashtag

The hasthag of the counter; it has 1 Text element and 1 plugin:

  • Text Element
  • DataText Container Plugin

6 - count

The number (count) of the counter; it has 1 Text element and 1 plugin:

  • Text Element
  • DataText Container Plugin

7 - twitter_logo

The icon of the social media we are using as source (Twitter in this example); it has 1 Image element and 1 plugin:

  • Image Element
  • Rectangle Geom Plugin

You can (and should) change the social icon if your Flow is collecting data from another source. I.e., Facebook, Instagram, etc.
