Working with Data Connectors: CoinStats

This Data Connector is not included in the Graphics license and requires payment of an additional licensing fee. If you need access please contact your designated Customer Success Manager.

This connector uses the CoinStats Public API, so you can get

  1. The Cryptocurrency price and its respective market cap

  2. The Fiat currency price

  3. The latest crypto news from more than 40 verified news sources.

Requirements

No requierements needed, just ask to your designated Customer Success Manager for activation.


Setting up Data Connectors

No API Key is required due to the CoinStats API has public access.


Adding the Data Connector to the Graphics Editor

First, you need to add an External Connector to your tree (1) and then click on Connect (2).

Finally select from the Finance category, CoinStats.

Datasets / Tables

There are 3 Datasets available, according to what you want to show on your graphics you should pick one of them.


1. Fiats

Get Fiat Currencies, the value of the main 38 currencies against the dollar price.

After choosing this data set and add a Dynamic List you will be able to see the dollar price, so you need to use:

  • A text element to show name, symbol, and value.

  • An image element to show the country flag.

2. Coin List with Global Average Prices

You will be asked to complete de dataset settings:

  • Acquisition Style: Select how to control the data update. That means you control when data is updated either by syncing from the remote control (Attended) or automatically data updated periodically (Unattended).

  • Skip: Number of items to skip.

  • Limit: Number of items to retrieve.

  • Currency: Choose the currency in which you want to display the value of the crypto.

The following example shows a list of the top Cryptocurrencies with global average price order with a market capitalization

3. Get News With Filter

You will be asked to complete de dataset settings:

  • Acquisition Style: The update of the information coming from CoinStats. You can control when data is updated either by syncing from the remote control (Attended). In Unattended mode is every 300 seconds (only for Coins with global avg prices and Get News With Filter).

  • Skip: Number of items to skip.

  • Limit: Number of items to retrieve.

  • News Type: Filter by topics to get the latest news of the crypto market. Filters can be:

    • Handpicked

    • Trending

    • Latest

    • Bullish

    • Bearish

With this dataset you can create tickers with information or graphics with images and text with the main news from the financial world.

Acquisition Style

The following table lists the acquisition style of each of the datasets available in this connector.

If style is Unattended. it means that the connector will automatically refresh the data every certain period of time specified by the user (by default it's 300 seconds).

If style is attended, then the graphics operator needs to manually refresh the data to get the latest version of the stats.
