This Data Connector is not included in the Graphics license and requires payment of an additional licensing fee. If you need access please contact your designated Customer Success Manager.

The Weather Company Data Packages tap into the breadth and depth of weather data to provide current and forecast conditions, seasonal and sub-seasonal forecasts, lifestyle indices, severe weather, and historical weather data.

Requirements

It requires an API key. if you do not have available, request to your Customer Success Manager designated in Weather Channel.


Adding the Data Connector to the Graphics Editor

First, you need to add a Data Connector to your tree (1) and then click on Connect (2).

From the External Source panel choose Weather Core (if it is not listed contact your designated Customer Success Manager).

Datasets / Tables

Complete the dataset settings by selecting a table. Each table has its own schema and represents different kinds of information. The tables supported are:

  • Site-Based Current Conditions: Current Conditions are sourced from physical site-based observation stations. This API returns the latest weather observation for the location supplied including current temperatures, winds, pressure, and other observed weather information. Weather observations are reported from physical devices deployed worldwide (weather data collected from METAR, SYNOP, BUOY, CMAN devices).

  • Site-Based Current Conditions Times Series: This API returns the latest weather observation for the location supplied to include current temperatures, winds, pressure, and other observed weather information. Weather observations are reported from physical devices deployed worldwide (weather data collected from METAR, SYNOP, BUOY, CMAN devices).

  • Hourly Forecast - (2, 15 Day): Weather forecasts starting current day.

  • Daily Forecast - (3, 5, 7, 10, 15 Day): Weather forecasts starting current day.

With the data now set up, you can start creating your tree by using building blocks, binding content, and formatting the Graphics. In this example, we use the information from the Weather Channel API to show up to 5 cities, with information on maximum and minimum temperature, wind speed, probability of rain, and animated gif.
